No artistic ability or experience necessary for this fast and fun experimental day of wax resist and dye on fabric!
All materials and equipment are provided so all you need to do is relax and watch Heather demonstrate winning ways with wax pens, brushes and cardboard tubes, before transforming plain white cotton cloth into a riot of colour, pattern and design
After a full demo of tools, materials and techniques, you'll be itching to have a go yourself and to experiment with some batik samples of your own, perhaps with some more ambitious pieces in the afternoon
Expect to make at least three batiks (probably more) during the day!
These can then be used as background for stitch or quilted, to make greetings cards or for patchwork or applique. Larger batiks can be used for cushion covers, for bag making, or framed up as batik paintings
Wear old clothes or bring an apron, in case of dye splashes. You may like to bring photos or sketchbooks for design ideas to try, although not essential as Heather will have a range of inspiring books to show
All materials and tools are available - just bring your project and get started! Oh, and don't forget a packed lunch!
