This fascinating one-day workshop is intended to help printers, book/antique dealers plus anyone wishing to work on personal books as a hobby
We will look at the basic structure of the book and some methods of holding the paper together with a view to binding it into a cover, making up prepared basic book structures and also a 'Slip Case'. This will be a practical session and you will also get a full typed out "How To" guide to add personal notes and take away at the end of the day
We would also encourage each person to bring along at least one book for Phil to discuss methods of repair, re bind or new binds… time permitting! This should then give those who may wish to continue into weekly workshops an idea of what will be involved. Here's what you'll be covering on the day:
While working you will be working in pairs to make best use of the equipment and, more importantly, to help each other! If you could bring along a metal ruler, pencil/pen and apron or make sure you have old clothes on (we will be using glue!) Please also bring a packed lunch
