Taking place on the 2nd December at 3.30pm the costumed parade led by St. Nicholas will wend its way down Church Street collecting for Whitby Wildlife SanctuaryOur own particular interpretation and take on the age old European ritual,weaving in local folklore and wintry figures alongside our Krampus, Perchtenand St. Nicholas. Celebrating an alternative Yule bringing the wonder and excitement of thefestive season back in the ideal setting of Whitby’s quaint and cobbled streets turning the East Side of Whitby into Krampus Town.The Finale letting you decide who will be 'The Thing Of The North' In parts of Europe on the eve of the Feast of St. Nicholas, December 5th,the Saint visits homes to give gifts to good children.He is accompanied by his dark counterpart the Krampus, who teases andpunishes naughty children.Krampus festivals or runs are popular throughout Europe and now in theUnited States but have not been held in the UK until 2015 with the first Whitby Krampus Run which was very well received (even by naughty children). The event is now in it's third year and continues to grow. All are welcome. Evening entertainment and music and more from 8.00pm at the Friendship Rowing Club with Elfland.
