Plans are going ahead to refurbish the old Reading Room in Goathland. Imaginative plans, already approved, will turn the space into a Community Hub capable of hosting a wide variety of activities for both the residents and general public. A mezzanine floor will allow exhibition space; provide a small performing arts venue, drop-in centre, use as an information point and re-establishing the old library - to be manned by volunteers. It will also create secure accommodation for the Plough Stots regalia.

To this end a charitable trust has been formed and are raising funds and one major fundraising event is a concert at the Spa Whitby on December 6^th - a virtual "who's who" of the music world
