Hilarity Bites Comedy present Ray Guns Look real Enough and Micky Bartlett

  • 2014-01-18 19:30:00

Our first comedy night of the year in Whitby features the fantastic Rayguns Look Real Enough.

Think Spinal Tap meets Morecambe and Wise in one of the funniest and most unique double acts in the UK. Rayguns combine high quality musicality and insane mash ups to deliver an unrivalled entertainment experience which brings together cabaret, comedy and rock n roll.

They have played to packed stadiums, rocked festival stages and are regulars at comedy and cabaret clubs across the UK. They won the 'Time Out Alternative Eurovision' award in 2011 and are one of the nominees for the London Cabaret Awards 2013 'Best Musical Variety Act'.

Rayguns Look Real Enough were an up and coming stadium rock band; dropped by their record label and exiled from their tour, we find them scratching a living on the comedy and cabaret circuit. From soundtrack of a generation to laughter track of the general public, this is a tale of fallen heroes and shattered dreams... With jokes.

"Gutsy, riotous juggernaut of fun" - ★★★★★ - The Public Reviews

"They rock the house, we love them!" - TimeOut

"Gloriously entertaining" - Chortle

Plus the excellent Micky Bartlett

Northern Ireland's answer to Kevin Bridges, Micky Bartlett is only 26 years old, and he is already established as one of the funniest and most popular acts on the circuit, earning the respect of his peers and Northern Ireland's older generation of comics alike.

Micky grew up in a town called Lurgan just outside of Belfast. Heavily influenced by the likes of Billy Connolly, and Richard Pryor, he has only ever wanted to be a stand-up comedian. He has certainly succeeded, and in 2012 Micky supported Patrick Kielty on his tour of Northern Ireland, performing everywhere from the Derry Playhouse to the Odyssey Arena in front of an audience of over 5000, the result of which earned him a slot in the Belfast recording of Dave's One Night Stand at the Grand Opera House.

Micky is currently appearing as a resident panellist on BBC NI's newest panel show Monumental alongside Andrew Maxwell, Jimeoin, Michael Smiley and hosts Adam Hills and Jarred Christmas, as well as being a regular guest on BBC NI's longest running comedy panel show The Blame Game with Neil Delamere and Colin Murphy.

"Brilliant" - Culture NI

"Very funny" - Jimeoin

"Micky opened for me during my Tear Gas tour and was a real asset to have on the bill. He's one of the brightest new comedy talents to come through in many a year and I can only see a great future for him. Definitely get to see him before the ticket prices go through the roof. Five star act" - Jake O'Kane

Your MC for the evening is Ray Bradshaw

Having made his comedy debut in September 2008, Ray has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting new acts on the comedy circuit. A two time Scottish Comedian of The Year finalist, Ray has travelled the lengths and breadths of the country telling jokes to anyone that will listen, making his name as an MC for various promoters.

A regular at Hilarity Bites, Ray was runner-up in their 2009 New Act Competition and has gone from strength to strength since then, and is in demand at some of the biggest comedy clubs in the UK as well as performing alongside big names such as Kevin Bridges and Frankie Boyle.

Ray is currently travelling the country partaking in dares that have been sent to him via his website www.idarerayto.com

"a very promising writer, able to create some enjoyably twisted punchlines" - Chortle

"Affable Glaswegian Ray Bradshaw compered and he instantly had the busy venue in stitches" - Edinburgh Evening News

"One to look out for" - The Skinny
