The Theory of Everything is the emotionally-charged true story of Professor Stephen Hawking's marriage to his first wife, Jane Wilde. Both enrolled at the prestigious Cambridge University during the 1960s, cosmology postgraduate Stephen (Eddie Redmayne) and literature student Jane (Felicity Jones) first become acquainted at a college party, where the two are instantly attracted to one another. Stephen's extraordinary intellectual capacity not only succeeds to leave an impression on Jane, but on his cosmology tutor, Dennis Sciama (David Thewlis), too.
When Stephen is diagnosed with motor neurone disease aged just 21 and given a life expectancy of just two years, the couple's relationship is thrown into turmoil. In spite of Stephen's gradually deteriorating condition, Jane vows to stand by Stephen through thick and thin. Their relationship is put under tremendous strain, and made even more challenging by Stephen's rapidly growing academic reputation.
Brought to you by Academy Award winning director, James Marsh, The Theory of Everything is an honest and unflinching portrayal of the marriage of one of the world's most intelligent and inspiring individuals. With the lead role performed to perfection by the exceptionally talented Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables, The Other Boleyn Girl), it's a truly remarkable drama that is sure to wow audiences across the nation and, indeed, the world.
