Twenty years after turning down his iconic superhero role in "Birdman 4", Riggan is now on the scrapheap as far as Hollywood is concerned – just another washed up A-lister whose star has faded out. Desperate to be taken seriously, he puts together a Broadway play which sees him take the starring role, but must battle his ego and demons along the way.
Michael Keaton (Batman, Jackie Brown) puts in a show stopping performance as Riggan, in this dark comedy which satirises the US film industry. Keaton is backed up by a strong supporting cast, some of whom are no strangers themselves to the superhero genre - Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man, The Help) plays his daughter alongside Edward Norton (Fight Club, American History X) and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Due Date).
Birdman has already been met with universal acclaim from critics at the Venice, Telluride and New York film festivals, who have praised Keaton's performance and the film's fresh narrative and bold script.
