The Whitby Goth Weekend began in 1994 as an ad hoc meeting of 40 penfriends and has now become one of the biggest Gothic music festivals in the world. Primarily centred around two nights of live music at Whitby Pavilion, it also hosts one of the largest temporary indoor alternative markets. 'Bizarre Bazaar' which is spread across four venues and hosts over 120 stalls.
Over 8,000 visitors descend on the small North Yorkshire fishing town each year for this bi-annual event which takes place in April and at Halloween for a weekend of shopping drinking and dancing.
