In this great new 5-week course Katie will introduce you to a range of different techniques and materials for drawing

The course is aimed at both beginners and also those with a little more experience, and is designed with the aim of building confidence as well as improving your drawing skills. Katie will be introducing a range of materials and techniques for drawing, and exploring what decision making is involved in creating a drawing. As with the last course we will start of doing some warm up exercises to help with the main drawing. All the materials and equipment will be provided for each of the classes, however you are welcome to bring your own along too.

• Week 1: Drawing using pencil. Exploring mark making and creating tonal variations
• Week 2: Drawing from direct observation using chalk pastels and water wash
• Week 3: Drawing with colour pencils. Experimenting with mark making and interpreting images
• Week 4: Doodling with line and colour. Using imagination to develop complex images from simple starting points
• Week 5: Drawing from direct observation using mixed media. A chance to incorporate some of the skills learnt in the first weeks of the course and to further experiment with a range of materials
