Jack has lived in Room all of his life with his Ma. His tiny world is confined to this single room, and the television shows him a host of imaginary places and people.
Ma knows that the world outside is so much bigger than Jack can ever imagine, and that this makeshift home she has created is nothing more than a prison she has been in since she was abducted years ago.
Fearing they will never get out, she lets Jack believe that Room is all there is to life. When Old Nick, their captor, becomes even more of a monster than ever, Ma knows that time is running out, and hatches a plan to escape. She concocts a scheme to get Jack out, but first she must convince him that there exists a real world outside Room a concept he struggles with. Once he has memorised the plan, he makes his way into the town that surrounds Room, and makes a desperate bid to get help from anyone who can save his Ma.After so many years of torment, can the end really be in sight? And, if so, how on earth will a small boy with no knowledge of the outside world ever adjust?Based on the remarkably success of the 2010 novel of the same name, this touching film has been adapted for the big screen by author Emma Donoghue, bringing her beloved characters Jack and Ma to life.Starring Brie Larson (Trainwreck) as Ma and Jacob Tremblay (Before I Wake) as Jack, Room is a stunning and powerful story about one woman and her bid to make the best life she can for the son she adores.
