Whitby Blues Festival 2017

  • 2017-10-14 14:00:00

The fifth annual Whitby Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festival.

Saturday 14 October. 2pm-10pm

Whitby Blues Festival returns to the beautiful setting of Whitby Pavilion this October for another full day of the best blues, rhythm and rock music.

With Bernie Marsden and Dr Feelgood Co-Headlining, six very different striking bands, a mix of legendary names and emerging artists.........this is a festival that will appeal to music lovers of all ages and tastes

.        Bernie Marsden - original guitarist for hard rock outfit UFO, then an original member of Paice, Ashton & Lord before joining Whitesnake!

·        Dr Feelgood - formed on Canvey Island in Essex in the early 1970s, Dr Feelgood remains a highly popular and exciting live rhythm and blues act!

·        Danny Bryant - often referred to as a “National Blues Treasure”, this is a title that Danny has worked tirelessly and passionately to earn!

·        Red Butler four young people that have amalgamated into a dynamic band and are able to generate power and sensitivity in their take on blues-rock

·        The Rainbreakers - passionate to deliver authenticity, the band have sustained an honest and ever growing following through a relentless desire to perform!

.        The Blues Issue a South coast 5 piece band with an explosive combination of twin guitars, hollerin’ harp and a supercharged rhythm section!

So why go to this festival......as well as a distraction from an often increasingly demanding daily life, making friends, having a great time.......if that's not enough, it’s also proven to be good for us in other ways

A few examples from research on the health benefits of listening to music include; it can lower stress levels, raise states of consciousness, change and improve moods, develop the brain and is useful in meditation. I think music in itself is healing.  It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.” ~ Billy Joel

The fact is, there isn’t a single human culture on earth that has lived without music in its many forms; for rituals and healing ceremonies, to ease stress, soothe pain and help with sleeping patterns.  Those that have said music heals the soul, appear to be right.......so why not get in touch with your inner self and treat yourself to a day or two in Whitby this Autumn!

No need to worry about searching for food and drinks on the day either, there will be a range of alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages, real ales available and a varied menu that should meet everyone's taste!

There is no doubt that this festival will be of interest to many local people and those visiting the area, and if you could help bring it to their attention, it would be very much appreciated
